Accessibility Statement
We strive to provide the best possible experience for all our guests and visitors through a policy of monitoring and improvement of our facilities and team training.
We aim to be able to deliver an outstanding experience, which meets and, where possible, exceeds the statutory requirements placed on us. We are mindful of the fact that our hotel is within a historic building, which can be subject to strict planning regulations. We will always aim to strike an appropriate balance between safeguarding the integrity of our architectural heritage and delivering an accessible and, above all, safe, environment in which to welcome our guests and visitors.
Wheelchair users:
The Bonham Hotel is fully accessible for wheelchair users. We have entry to the hotel via a ramp at the rear of the building within our car park. This leads to a lift that can access every floor.
We also have a fully accessible bedroom with wet room. This room, within our Superior category, is spacious enough for a wheelchair and has emergency pull cords located next to the bed, by the toilet and in the shower area.
Aside, from our designated accessible room, some of our Junior Suites and one of our Townhouse Double rooms have separate walk-in showers.
Events
Our Events Room, Restaurant and Bar are all located on our ground floor. If entering via the front of the hotel there are approximately 6 steps. Alternatively there is access via a ramp at the rear of the hotel – this entry leads to our lift, which can be taken from the lower ground to the ground floor.
Assistance dogs:
Your guidance dog is welcome to stay in our guest rooms and all dogs are allowed in the bar and lounge area. Dog beds and bowls are available upon request.
Public toilets:
The Bonham has a dedicated accessible toilet on it’s ground floor just down the corridor from reception. The entrance to the wash room is wide enough for a wheelchair, has a side rail alongside the toilet and has an emergency pull cord in the event you may need aid.
People who are deaf or who have some hearing loss:
For guests with a hearing impairment we have the portable ‘Deafgard’. The ‘Deafgard’ is a bedside wireless device that alerts you when the fire alarm is activated. It incorporates an epilepsy friendly strobe and a connected vibrating pillow pad that you place under a pillow. In the event of an alarm activating, the pillow pad starts to vibrate and awakes the sleeper. The flashing strobe and LCD provides visual indication that the fire alarm is sounding.
People who are blind or have some sight loss:
We have staff on hand to help with any guest who may be visually impaired.
The Bonham hotel also accepts guide dogs in all areas of the building.
Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) forms:
Upon checking into The Bonham our Duty Manager will kindly ask you to complete a ‘PEEP’ form. This helps us, better understand any specific requirements you may need for the duration of your stay with us. It is also useful as it will make clear an evacuation plan in the unlikely event of an evacuation, and who you can expect to provide help.
Pre-arrivals:
The Bonham has a car park at the rear of the building, which can be accessed down Lynedoch Place Lane. This is charged at £2 per hour, capped at £20 for 24 hours. Alternatively there is on-street parking around Drumsheugh Gardens. This is metered and has a maximum stay restriction of 4 hours.
We kindly request that you contact reservations if you have any specific requirements prior to and during your stay.
